Horse mackerels are the species Trachurus trachurus. Other common names are Atlantic horse mackerel and European horse mackerel. It is in the family Carangidae which includes jacks, pompanos, runners, jack mackerels, trevallies and scads. These fishes are sleek predators that roam the oceans. Horse mackerels are found in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean. This particular species appears to be declining.
